Critical Reflection
As part of the educator’s practice, it is fundamental to engage in a variety of professional development and learning opportunities, both formal and informal. Through these opportunities, teachers enhance their practice of pedagogical content and content knowledge (Richter, Kunter, Klusmann, Lüdtke, and Baumert, 2011). Through this, teachers are working towards the Australian Professional Standards for Teaching.
Teachers’ professional learning is essential in the educational setting, as it can be used to enhance teacher practice through research, gathering, evidence, and then using this evidence to impact their practice and student learning (Wells, 2013). This is evident in artefacts 1 and 2, whereby I partook in professional development workshops, which developed my skills and knowledge of teaching that can be applied to my future practice and student learning. In addition, Wells (2013), argues that effective professional learning needs to extend teacher knowledge, draw on a variety of knowledge and experiences, is ongoing, and is school based or collaborative. Through this, teachers are provided with the necessary and current skills and knowledge to enhance student learning. This is demonstrated in artefacts 1, 2, 3, 4, which showcases a variety of professional development experiences, including external and school based opportunities, that promotes a learning environment amongst educators.
Quality feedback is an integral part of professional development, as it supports improvement of teacher instruction. Quality feedback should promote reflective practice and by providing constructive feedback through teacher evaluations, it supports professional growth (Feeney, 2007). This is evident in artefact 4, where my associate teacher supports my application of constructive feedback from supervisors and teachers to improve my teaching practice and student learning.

Professional Development Plan
Descriptor 6.1. There is no evidence for this descriptor. While I have briefly reflected on my teaching practice and sought assistance from my associate teacher to meet the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, I have not used this to identify and plan for professional learning needs. Therefore, in my upcoming placement, I intend to focus on this descriptor in consultation with my associate teacher to plan for future learning needs.
